Greece

Destinations are at the heart of this blog. We’ve visited every place we write about ourselves we don’t copy anything from Wikipedia, and we don’t sugarcoat our experiences to make them sound like a “great vacation.” We write about what we saw, what went well, and what we’d do differently next time.

In this section, you’ll find guides to destinations from around the world Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. From major cities to national parks to coastal villages that haven’t yet been overrun by tourists. Each destination has its own section with tips on accommodations, transportation, food, and activities organized to save you time, not add to your worries.

Ad space: When planning our accommodations, we rely on Booking.com, we book guided tours through GetYourGuide, and we always compare flight prices on KAYAK. This isn’t an advertisement it’s just what we use ourselves.

Choose a continent, country, or city and start planning. Or just let yourself be inspired that’s a good place to start, too.

Greece is more than just Santorini and sunbathing. It is a civilization that has left a greater legacy than any other in European history and at the same time, it is the best place to eat, relax, and simply while away the hours. What to see in Greece depends on whether you’re looking for history, nature, or the sea.

In this section, you’ll find a guide to the Acropolis of Athens and Athens’ neighborhoods off the beaten path, tips on Greek islands Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Lefkada, Naxos. Recommendations for mainland Greece: Meteora, Delphi, and the Peloponnese. We give honest insights into which islands are overcrowded and which are worth visiting.

Ad space: Greece offers great value for money if you know where to look. We book our accommodations through Booking.com, and we reserve ferries and tours through GetYourGuide, which has an excellent selection of boat trips and guided historical tours in Greece.

Greece is worth more than just one visit. Come once for the history and another time for the sea or both at once.

Enjoying the perks of freelance work lets me take one trip around Europe a year. Every year my colleague and I pack up in early spring and head off to discover more European cities. This time, thanks partly to cheap flights and accommodation, the choice fell on Rhodes in Greece....
